The Biochemical Composition of Seminal Plasma of Rainbow Trou (Oncorhyncus mykiss) Fed with Vitamin A and E Added Diets.
SUMMARY
Recently the production of rainbow trout has been increased in Turkey. 70 rainbow trout (Oncorhyncus mykiss) have been used as research materials in a fish farm near Bozöyük. They were divided into 7 groups. One was control, the next three was only vitamin E added group, which had 50, 100 150 mg/kg Vitamin E in their diet, the other three groups had same amounts of vitamin E and additional 15000 IU vitamin A into their diets. They were fed for 60 days and then sperm samples were taken, seminal plasma of trout were separated. They were
analyzed for glucose, total lipid, cholesterol, protein, inorganic P, Ca, β-carotene vitamin C, E, A. The levels of vitamin E, A and β-carotene of seminal plasma were increased in vitamin added groups. Vitamin C levels were found changeable in groups. Except protein, other metabolites were also increased in vitamin added groups. The levels some biochemical components of rainbow trout seminal plasma were introduced to scientific literature. As conclusion the addition of vitamin A and E to the diets of rainbow trout could positively effects the sperm quality and the composition of seminal plasma. This was the first report in Turkey on the biochemical composition of seminal plasma of rainbow trout.
